A Bolotie (even cowboy tie laces or tie) is a type of necktie consisting of a piece of cord that is held together by a decorative brooch or clasp. The laces tie was designed by Vic Cedar Flagstaff in Wickenburg (Arizona) and later patented. In the U.S., this necklace is also called Bola Tie and carried to Cowboy and Western wear. In England this type of tie in the 1950's was popularized by the Teddy Boys as Bootlace Ties. In 1971 the Tie lace was the official necklace of Arizona. In Western riding the Bolotie belongs to the equipment of the rider.
